The Hunt the Front team hit the road again with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on Saturday night with Joseph Joiner behind the wheel of his No. 10 Three Trade Consultants/ Law Offices of Cole & Davis/ Capital Race Car.
A tough field of Super Late Models converged at Talladega Short Track, better known as “The Hornet’s Nest,” in Eastaboga, Alabama for the E-Z-GO 50.
After struggles in qualifying and falling just short of a transfer in his heat race, Joseph locked into the $12,000-to-win main event with a third-place finish in the B-Main. Starting 21st, Joiner wasn’t gaining any ground and retired early from the 50-lapper to save their equipment. He was credited with 22nd in the final rundown.
“The good news is we accomplished our goal of making the A-Main. The bad news we finished 22nd after completing only nine of 50 laps,” said Joiner. “It’s disappointing because we know our Capital car was much better than the results show. Mistakes in qualifying cost us. We’ll chalk it up as a learning experience and try to do better the next time we get to race with these guys.”
