After Mother Nature nixed their original plans, Joseph Joiner and the team made the trek to Senoia (Ga.) Raceway for the annual Michael Head Jr. Memorial.
In a stout field of 30 Southern All Star Racing Series Super Late Models, Joseph laid down the fastest lap in his qualifying group to earn the pole position for the 54-lap main event. Joiner took the lead at the start of the $4,054-to-win affair and held the point until a caution on lap 15.
On the ensuing restart, Joseph slipped up and allowed Brandon Overton to get by. Joseph chased Overton the rest of the way and event retook the lead briefly in lapped traffic late in the race. Unfortunately, the caution came out before the lap was completed.
Joiner would cross the finish line in second behind Overton, with Austin Horton, Sam Seawright, and Clint Smith rounding out the Top-5 finishers. For complete results from the event, please visit www.SASDirt.com.
