Joseph Joiner captures $10,000 in Mike Duvall Memorial triumph at Cherokee Speedway
Earns $10,000 Cherokee Chief Victory
MILTON, Fla. (05/07/25) – Despite the cancellation of the scheduled Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series (HTFSDS) doubleheader due to inclement weather, Joseph Joiner made the most of his weekend with an eight-hour trip to Cherokee Speedway — a decision that ultimately paid off with a $10,000 triumph.
The Milton, Florida, native drove his Kubota Genuine Parts / Base Racing Fuel No. 10 Capital Race Cars Late Model to his first career victory at the historic red-clay oval in Gaffney, South Carolina.
“(I) just tried to keep this thing as straight as we could, I seen they was having some flats. I seen (Zack) Mitchell come by with his flat and I figured if anybody could get around here making 40 laps without burning the tire off, it would be him,” Joiner said. “At that point I kinda got worried, cause I knew we run 40 all the way in the rubber there, ya know. … hey we made it to the end there. Looking at (the tire), looks like we got some left, so we’ll take it."
After wet weather forced the cancellation of a scheduled HTFSDS doubleheader across two states, Joiner made his lone start of the weekend on Sunday in the Mike Duvall Memorial at Cherokee Speedway.
Among 22 entrants for the second round of the Cherokee Chief Super Late Model Series, Joiner set the tone early by posting the fastest time in qualifying before cruising to a dominant heat race victory. Lining up on the pole for the 40-lap feature, the Milton, Florida native went the distance, leading every lap en route to his third win of the season. He held off local standouts Trent Ivey and Ross Bailes.
The $10,000 triumph not only marked Joiner’s first win at the South Carolina oval, but also his first with the newly launched Cherokee Chief Super Late Model Series, propelling him to the top of the tour’s point standings.

Joiner will look to replicate his recent success with the Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series as the tour heads to Alabama and Georgia this weekend. Following his hometown triumph on April 19 at Southern Raceway, the Hunt the Front driver is set to return to action Friday at Penton Raceway before heading to Senoia Raceway on Saturday for the weekend’s $7,500-to-win finale.
