Joseph Joiner Qualifies for First World 100

Joseph Joiner made his debut at the famed Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Wednesday in preliminary action for the 51st World 100. Eighty cars registered for competition, and the field was divided into a pair of $10,000-to-win programs. Joseph started the night by qualifying 14th fastest in his group, and with an invert of 16 he was positioned on the pole for a heat race. (Josh James image)

In his heat, Joiner slipped back early but held on to finish in the fifth-and-final transfer spot, which earned him the 18th-starting spot for the feature. Early in the 25-lap prelim he dropped as far back as 22nd before rebounding to finish 19th.

Championship night for the 51st World 100 was held on Saturday night, and via his performance on Wednesday night, Joseph was positioned sixth on the grid for his 15-lap heat. He advanced one position to finish fifth. With only the Top-3 finishers moving onto the finale, Joiner was forced to run a B-main, which he dominantly won from the fourth-starting position to earn the 21st-starting position for the $54,000-to-win finale.

Making his first-career World 100 start in his first-ever attempt, Joiner went on to claim a 21st-place finish in the crown jewel event.

Action resumed on Friday evening with preliminary action for the 50th World 100, which saw 79 entries divided into a pair of $10,000-to-win programs. Joseph battled mechanical issues early in the night but still managed to earn the 20th-starting spot for the feature via heat race action.

In the 25-lap feature Joiner advanced six spots to finish 14th.

The team was eager for Saturday night’s finale, but unfortunately mechanical woes forced the team to scratch from the program as their weekend came to an early end.
