Jonathan Joiner Pulls Double Duty at Southern
Jonathan Joiner led the Hunt the Front charge into battle on Saturday night at Southern Raceway (Milton, Fla.) during the track's Winter Nationals, where he pulled double duty between the Modified and 602 Sportsman ranks.
In the 602 Late Model division, Jonathan set fast time in qualifications to earn the pole position for the $1,000-to-win feature. He led early in the feature before a busted shock pushed him to the second position with five circuits remaining. From there his luck only went south as he was spun on a late-race restart and retired to a fifth-place finish.
Meanwhile, in the Modified ranks he won his heat race to earn the pole for the feature. He once again led early before bad luck showed up in the form of a broken steering shaft, which ended his night in the 14th position.
