Joiner races to fourth-place finish in Dirt Late Model Dream prelim at Eldora

Sporting a brand new red, white, and blue wrap for the 29th running of the Dirt Late Model Dream, Joseph Joiner invaded Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Thursday afternoon to pilot his Langenfelder Mechanical Contractors No. 10 Late Model for the three-day event.

With the massive field split into two groups, Joiner laid down the sixth-fastest lap in his 48-car group but slipped up on the opening lap of his heat, relegating him into a consolation race. Needing to place second or better, Joseph nearly store the final transfer position late in the 12-lapper but finished one spot out in third.

For another round of prelims on Friday, Joseph came out the gates hot again as he set the pace in his 48-car time trial group with a blistering 16.498-second lap before placing third in his heat. Chasing a $12,000 payday in his preliminary feature, Joiner stormed forward five spots in the 25-lapper to register a fourth-place finish. He followed Hudson O’Neal, Bobby Pierce, and Tim McCreadie across the line with Brandon Sheppard coming in fifth.

Scheduled to start on the pole of his heat race on Saturday, Joiner was running in second on the sixth circuit when he slipped over the cushion in turns one and two and tagged the wall. He was able to escape uninjured but his chances at making the $129,000-to-win Dirt Late Model Dream were over.
